Pionus Facts

There are five species of pionus commonly found in the pet trade.
They are blue headed pionus, bronze winged pionus, dusky pionus, Maximillian's(Maxi) Pionus, and the white cap pionus.

The pionus parrots are related to the Amazons.

Pionus parrots all have red feathers under their tails.

The smallest species of Pionus is the white capped pionus.

The largest species is the Maximillian's pionus.

Pionus tend to have a musty odor that is not at all unpleasant.  Many pionus owners will admit to smelling their birds.

Pionus can live in captivity for 35-40+ years.
