What species is you pionus parrot? I have a white cap pionus.
Would you reccomend a pionus parrot as a pet? Yes, I would recommend a pionus as a pet, unless there were unruly children in the household.
What do you feed your pionus parrot? My pionus gets a good seed blend, fresh fruits and vegetables, along with pasta. Everytime we eat, we fix our birds a little bowl of what we are having as long as it is something safe.
How old is your pionus parrot? Sonar is 7 years old.
Does your pionus talk? Yes, but very quietly. He has a limited vocabulary but does say, "Momma" and "pretty bird".
If so approximately how many words/phrases does it say? (See above)
Does your pionus mimic things? No, I wouldn't say that he does. However, he came in as a rescue and has not been here very long.
If so how many things does it mimic? None that I am aware of.
Is your pionus male or female or unknown? I was told that Sonar was a male, but no dna papers are available.
Is it louder than you thought it would be? Sonar is one of the quietest birds that I have which I found surprising because one of the reasons he was found a new home was because of his noise.
Is your pionus what you expected/better/worse? Much better! We thought we were getting a vicious bird to rehabilitate and he is the sweetest bird!!!
Does your pionus bite for no reason? No, he does not. He will gently put his beak on hand to say, "NO, I don't want to step up", but he has never bitten since he has been here.
Does your pionus enjoy baths? No. I put a bowl on top of his cage in the event he would like to take a bath, but I usually mist him.
Does your pionus enjoy it's head being rubbed? Yes, but he does not like to be petted.
Does your pionus play with it's toys? Yes, he does.
If so what toys does it play with? Sonar likes hanging toys with a lot of items attached. He likes toys that are brightly colored and he can move around his cage. He also loves the toys that are hung from his playgym.
Does your pionus get along with other birds? Sonar does not acknowledge there are any other birds here! LOL... I have 13 birds total.
Is your pionus loud? No, I do not think he is loud at all. He has the cutest little warbling sound.
Rate your pionus on a scale of one to ten. One being the lowest ten being the highest.
