Would you reccomend a pionus parrot as a pet? ...... Definitely, they are mostly calm, quiet birds and can be quite talkative when they want to be.
What do you feed your pionus parrot? ....... Nutri-berries and table food
How old is your pionus parrot? ....... 3 yrs.
Does your pionus talk? ........ Yes
If so approximately how many words/phrases does it say? .... 6 that I know of. I am told he was taught French words by original owner and he does say some things I don't understand.
Does your pionus mimic things? ...... yes
If so how many things does it mimic? ...... Telephone, our other birds
Is your pionus male or female or unknown? ..... Unknown...I consider him a male.
Is it louder than you thought it would be?........ no
Is your pionus what you expected/better/worse? ........ Yes, what I expected
Does your pionus bite for no reason? ....... No, just tries to bite my daughter because he hasn't adjusted to her yet.
Does your pionus enjoy baths? yes
Does your pionus enjoy it's head being rubbed? ....... sometimes, definitely doesn't like being touched or grabbed on his back.
Does your pionus play with it's toys? ........ yes
If so what toys does it play with? ........ Chews wood chips on sisal rope and rings bell.
Does your pionus get along with other birds? ....... A little agressive with them so far, I don't think he will intentionally bite them, but he is so much larger than they are and I am a little worried. We are working on it.
Is your pionus loud? ......... In the am he sounds off a little for approx. 5 mins. Not too loud though.

One being the lowest ten being the highest......10 (I love him, he's my boy)
Cuddeling......... Does not like to cuddle, but loves rides on shoulder and sitting in the family room with us on his perch stand, likes watching TV.
Eating/ accepting new foods....... It took a while, but he now eats some veggies and loves chicken and fish, cheerios and garbanzo beans.
Playing with toys...........Just likes to chew his manzanita chips on sisal rope and ringing bell and also likes to chew cardboard.
Ability to accept new people. ......Good with meeting new men, doesn't like strange women and my daughter who is home from college....he gets agressive with her. Please note that he was adopted by us approx. 5 wks ago and has been through 3 families and mostly cared for my men before coming to us and he accepted me (his mommy) immediately. I think he has adjusted amazingly well and will accept my daughter soon.
